FLIGHT CENTRE AND FCm SOAR AT WORLD TRAVEL AWARDS

FLIGHT Centre Limited (FLT) has won four major honours at the 2011 World Travel Awards in Bangkok.

The company was named:

  • Australasia’s leading travel agent
  • Australasia’s leading business travel agent (FCm Travel Solutions)
  • Asia’s leading travel management company (FCm); and
  • Europe’s leading travel management company (FCm)

Described by The Wall Street Journal as the “Oscars of the travel industry”, the World Travel Awards aim to separate the good from the outstanding and identify companies that consistently excel beyond expectation.

This year, 213,000 industry professionals from the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors were eligible to take part in the voting process.

FLT managing director Graham Turner said the awards capped a solid year for the company.

“The 2010/11 financial year was a memorable period for the company, with FLT achieving record results, expanding its global network and trading profitably in all 10 countries for the first time,” he said.

“FCm’s achievement in winning awards in three regions is particularly noteworthy and highlights the strength of the network, its people and its customer service and offerings.”

Flight Centre Rolls Out The Red Carpet For Aussie Travellers

Sep 6, 2011

AUSSIE travellers can now enjoy VIP treatment at no extra cost when they stay at handpicked hotels and resorts around the world, thanks to an exclusive initiative by Flight Centre Limited.

The company has launched a new program called myTime to give travellers added benefits such as room upgrades, cocktails on arrival, restaurant and spa discounts and priority areas when they book selected holiday packages through Flight Centre Limited’s retail and corporate brands.

Flight Centre Limited’s executive global marketing manager, Colin Bowman, said the myTime program was a first for the Australian travel industry and would provide customers with unique benefits they could not get elsewhere.

“Effectively, we are rolling out the red carpet for our customers to reward them for booking their holidays with our brands,” Mr Bowman said.

“Aussie travellers are always looking for a great deal, so these added extras mean that they are getting even more value-for-money, in addition to the incredibly cheap international airfares that are currently available.

“Through our extensive global network, we are able to provide travellers with a choice of hotels, resorts and villas in Fiji, Bali and Thailand, as well as in the Caribbean, Mexico and Hawaii.”

myTime holiday packages are exclusive to Flight Centre Limited and are currently available at seven key leisure destinations, with plans to expand the network to 160 properties by June next year.
